What An FOB Actually Does

It's free, weighs 6.5kg, and takes a Quick Slot — so the only real cost is the slot itself. What you get back is three distinct capabilities.

Build Radius

Defines where your team can build at all, and shows on the minimap once placed.

Shared Storage

Holds items and four separate supply types for the whole team, each capped at 20,000.

Vehicle Servicing

Unlocks the Refuel and Repair Stations, the only way to service vehicles in the field.

Not A Spawn Point — The FOB is a logistics and building hub only — it does not let players respawn on it. See Game Modes for where players actually respawn (HQ, or the APC once unlocked).

Buildable Stations

Two structures can be built at an FOB using the Large Hammer:

Deploying an FOB

How to place a Forward Operating Base in the field, and what it looks like once it's down.

FOB Basics

Placing an FOB, and what it looks like once it's down — a computer terminal with a set of crates accessed through it.

  • Once placed, its build radius shows up on the minimap so you can see where you're allowed to build.
  • The FOB itself is a computer terminal plus a set of crates — the terminal is how you access what's stored inside.
  • It arrives with a starting set of tools already in its inventory (see Starting Inventory above).

Building System

Placing walls inside an FOB's build radius, snapping them together, and finishing a wall's construction.

Building Basics

Building a few walls, snapping them to each other, and completing the construction of one wall.

  • You can only build within the FOB's build radius, shown on the minimap.
  • Construction draws from the FOB's Build Supplies stockpile.
  • Walls snap to each other when placed close together, letting you chain them into a structure.
